MY JOURNEY
This story is not UN-common or very UN-usual in the least depending on one’s prospective. Its a story of SURVIVAL in today’s modern society where traumatizing events are accepted as normal and turned into TV reality shows. Events that build individual character & strength are necessary and simply part of the process we call life.
LESSONS IN FOSTER CARE 0-7 & 13-18
Moving frequently I was bullied a lot in school and so I learned 2 fear friendship. With no substantial support system in place, the $12 a month welfare stipend I got left little money for clothing. Puberty was really hard and I felt ugly, alone & abandoned most of the time. This lesson created a story called low self-esteem. At age 18 I end up right back in the den of my abusers. Life there hadn’t changed much, so I got a brilliant idea right … have a kid (still a big deal today) and yep … get back on welfare because that’s what I learned. Only this time I would have my very own personal welfare check and I would finally be on my own, or so I thought …
ENTER: Los Angeles Urban League; a federally funded program where I learned data entry skills that literally saved my life. THANK U UNIVERSE
UNCONTROLLED EVENT WARP SPEED 2000
Married, unmarried and mom 2 a beautiful daughter. I worked 4 IBM and later owned a hair salon.Thinking I had it all together I was diagnosed with bi-lateral carpal tunnel & severe tendinitis. This sudden lifestyle change exacerbated emotional & financial trauma and I gained 85 lbs. I remember feeling so much frustration after 9 months of physical therapy I thought I’d never have abundant health again. I almost gave up hope when… DING DING DING… I decided 2 become the healing I was seeking. Opting 4 Alternative Health Training was a much more realistic journey 4 healing my body and my spirit.
Grateful 2 those institutions and instructors whose knowledge & skills opened a new window in my life.I’m so proud of myself standing up for myself and never allowing the doctors or others with limiting beliefs about me dictate how my health should be. I’m rewarded daily for that courage & diligence to accept nothing less then vibrant and radiant health.

WHAT IS BEAUTY CULTURE?
Shared Meanings & Rituals that Transform the
Personal Cultivation of Beauty
Madame C J Walker, Mary Williams, Estee Lauder and Mary Kay Ash were among the first female entrepreneurs before the Civil War. They were manufacturers who achieved success selling cosmetics; inventors who obtained at least 450 trademarks for beauty preparations between 1890-1910; owned beauty salons, opened schools that taught hairdressing creating a beauty culture that helped thousands of women become self-sufficient.
PASSIONS
In my role as a Professional Cosmetologist and Holistic Beauty Culture Educator, I’ve clocked more Thairapy hours than many psychologists. Having overcome and ACT-ualized what appeared to be a not so great early childhood with what felt like a hopeless health challenge IN-spires my PASSION for creating Alternating CurrentsThairapy. Hair salons have historically offered a safe haven for emotional support where the only credentials needed were
~a compassionate heart and the willingness to listen~.
